Scotland Yard WILL examine parents' possible guilt re Madeleine McCann - OFFICIAL

Here's an interesting question posed by one of our forum members regarding letters to and from New Scotland Yard regarding the case review of Madeleine McCann (letters here):

"I'm very confused about this whole process. I don't even understand the scope of this and the possible consequences. Say for instance that they question the parents and Tapas friends regarding the timeline inconsistencies and one of them cracks and reveals they have previously told lies. What can happen after that? Can anyone be charged with anything? Is there a crime like obstruction of justice in Portugal? Would they have to re-open the Portuguese enquiry for any action to follow?"

Tony Bennett's response:

"Good questions.

First of all, this is a REVIEW, similar to what is called a 'cold case review'. Essentially this means a group of officers trawling through thousands of documents and looking for possible new leads and lines of enquiry.

If there is evidence of a crime having been committed by one or more individuals, then the status of the review would change from REVIEW to INVESTIGATION - and, yes, that could lead to ARRESTS.

It is my understanding that as Madeleine McCann is British and all the Tapas group are British and as some of the alleged offences occurred in Britain that IF they have collectively covered up the death of Madeleine in Praia da Luz they could be charged under British law with a whole raft of offences:

* causing or allowing the death of a child (McCanns)

* hiding a body and preventing an inquest (McCanns)

* interfering with or perverting the course of justice - or conspiracy to interfere with or pervert the course of justice (McCanns, Tapas friends, and anyone else involved in the cover-up)

* conspiracy to obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception (all those involved in setting up and running the Fund)

* interference with witnesses (Brian Kennedy).

I think Cameron, Sir Paul Stephenson, and the McCann Team hoped that the Review would merely be an excuse to lambast the Portuguese Police once again for their incompetence, and announce that the Portuguese Police had lamentably failed to follow up potential 'sightings' of Madeleine, therefore giving the McCanns' narrative the official backing of Scotland Yard.

Those of us who believe the evidence strongly suggests that Madeleine McCann died in Apartment G5A have, I believe, a solemn duty to explain this to DCI Andy Redwood and his colleagues."

A message to Pat Brown from a member of our forum:

Pat, if you read this post, please please please push this as far as you can. With a sound professional background and reputation you can do what the rest of us would like to do (red flag all the weirdness of the case to a mass audience and try and get some answers/explanations for the contradictions etc) but do not have the opportunity or access to the right people. This is a Golden Opportunity to change the course of this peculiar situation, where two people seem able to control everyone and everything they wish despite some gargantuan flaws in the theory they are persuing.

The McCanns seem to have a free license to defame anyone who questions their theory, despite there being not a scrap of evidence for that theory. Yet are able to wield the axe over anyone who, using the official investigation files in the public domain, comes up with a different theory or scenario. They can contradict themselves with impunity (see thread on The Eye/Coloboma for a sledgehammer of a lie), but supress anyone who publicises their own spoken error!

I think the McC's should be put in a situation where they clarify all the errors and contradictions they have made as a quid pro quo for the millions and millions of pounds from the Portugese and British public purses they have had spent on this (but they say nothing has been done - pah!)

There has to come a point where the McC's admit the wrongs they have and continue to do, or just go away. This cannot go on for 4 more years, it really can't.

So please Pat, help bring this dreadful media whitewash, this never-ending series of contradictions and arrogant behaviour to it's conclusion for everyones sake. Thank you and good luck!!

A short biography of Brian Kennedy followed by analysis of his involvement in searching for the truth about Madeleine McCann.

Introduction

The McCanns’ chief reputation manager, Clarence Mitchell, recently described the disappearance of Madeleine as ‘a complete mystery’. One of the persons most closely associated with attempts to unravel this mystery is Cheshire-based multi-millionaire and double glazing magnate, Mr Brian Kennedy. The purpose of this article is to examine his actions in the Madeleine McCann case.

There are essentially two rival versions of what happened to Madeleine.

The McCanns claim that Madeleine was snatched from their holiday apartment during the evening of Thursday 3 May 2007. They say this event happened between 9.10pm, when Dr Gerald McCann is said to have left the apartment after checking that all was well with the children, and 9.15pm when their friend Jane Tanner is said to have seen a man carrying a child.

By contrast, the team of Portuguese detectives that originally investigated the case reached the conclusion that Madeleine had died in the McCanns’ holiday apartment and that her parents, with or without the help of others, must have hidden or disposed of her body. The senior detective in the case, Goncalo Amaral, wrote a book, A Verdade de Mentira - ‘The Truth About a Lie’, setting out the evidence for their conclusion.

Many people believe one explanation or the other. Many others do not know what to believe. Leaving these theories aside, we will look at Brian Kennedy’s actions in this case and discuss the extent to which they support one or other of the above accounts of the reason her disappearance.

Brian Kennedy’s connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann was first announced in September 2007, four months after the McCanns reported Madeleine missing. He has been portrayed as an unselfish, warm-hearted and generous man who for purely altruistic motives has given up a significant amount of his time and energy and a lot of money to try to find Madeleine McCann. I shall explore that claim in this article.

But first, it is necessary to take a brief look at the life and career of Brian Kennedy prior to September 2007 when his interest in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann became known.

Madeleine McCann and the Kingdom of Clarence

Given that I am currently enjoying something of a reputation as having a big, fat, scurrilous mouth, (possibly true), and that I never know when to keep it closed, (ALSO possibly true); I though I would confound my detractors and keep it short and sweet!

Am I alone in thinking how utterly preposterous and somewhat disturbing it is, that at LEAST 25 Media outlets, Newspapers and BROADCASTERS, are currently reporting about a little girl having been found in INDIA that resembles Madeleine McCann and that the McCanns are awaiting the results of the DNA test; whilst at the same time, the police and authorities in the LEH province of India, the scene of this furore, are all utterly bemused and baffled, asking questions as to what everyone is going on about as they have no KNOWLEDGE of ANY girl having been found OR of any DNA tests!!!

Clarence Mitchell has made about 4 statements concerning this latest "sighting", ALL of which are nonsensical and actually CONTRADICT each other.

Of course, there are MANY people who DO follow this case with open hearts, hoping upon all hope that it IS the little girl, and they will continue to pray and hope for Madeleine's safe return.

They will also lambast and vilify the PRESS and Media who report such "sightings" and developments for raising false hope.

Whereas, if they examined such 'reports' and continued widespread coverage with a little more scrutiny and impartiality, they would arrive at the same, logical conclusion.

That the people with whom they hold in so much reverence, adulation and close affection, (Team McCann), are the ones actually responsible for the stream of fabricated stories, hoax's and fake sightings; that the British PRESS and their respective editors are their servile minions;

And that Clarence Mitchell is their Master!

Talking to some media persons here Thursday evening, Abdul Gani Mir, deputy inspector general of police (DIG), said: ‘We have not recovered any missing foreign girl from Leh.’

‘There is no question of carrying out a DNA test since we don’t have the girl. Our field staff in Leh have confirmed that no such girl has been recovered by them.’

FOR once, grieving Kate McCann can find something to smile about. So often pictured as a sad, withdrawn figure, she and husband Gerry burst into laughter as they promoted her book about their lost daughter Madeleine.

The couple were in Amsterdam to launch the Dutch edition of the book which they hope will help to boost the search for Madeleine across Europe.

The heart-rending memoir has already topped the best-seller list in Britain and Australia, and hundreds of thousands of copies have flown off the shelves.

A spokesman for publishers Transworld said: “We hope it will reach number one across Europe and that somebody with important information will read it and be moved to come forward.”

Copies have been snapped up in Portugal, where Madeleine, then three, went missing from a seaside resort on the Algarve during a family holiday in 2007. The McCanns, both 43, from Rothley, Leics, have been given a boost by the amount which the book has raised towards their fund to back the continuing search for their daughter.

They say they have new hope that she will be found after Scotland Yard agreed to review the investigation into her disappearance.

The photograph of happy Kate and Gerry was removed from the Express article - according to author David Bret "the sub-editor of the Express explained over the phone yesterday that no papers will print anything regarded as unfavourable regarding the McCanns, and that the couple's "office" had complained that a picture of them laughing was unfavourable at it is a "misrepresentation" of how they feel, which was why they insisted it should be removed."
